Janae Washington, affectionately known as Jay, launched floral joy by jay to lead with lightness, create freely, and anchor her craft in joy.

A DC-based floral designer and event creative, Jay views flowers as a medium for connection and storytelling—whether hosting workshops, styling intimate gatherings, or designing on-site for weddings.

A strategic communications professional by trade, she brings a detail-oriented, multi-faceted perspective to her floral work from her public affairs roles in D.C. government, on Capitol Hill, and in the private sector. She holds a Master of Public Administration & Policy from American University and a B.A. in Sociology from Howard University.
