Janae Washington is a DC-based freelance floral designer and event creative who is obsessed with the notion of "blooming where you are planted." Grounded in intention, impact, and most importantly, joy, she believes deeply that flowers are more than just decor—they are a pathway to connection and storytelling. She founded floral joy by jay to share moments of pure, unadulterated joy with the world around via her #1 love language: flowers.

A strategic communications and media relations professional by trade, Janae brings a unique, diverse, and intensely detail-oriented perspective to floral design. She has held public affairs and policy roles in D.C. Government, on Capitol Hill, and in the private sector. Janae received her Master of Public Administration and Policy from American University and is also a proud alumna of Howard University where she received her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in African Studies.
